Cadiz Police are investigating a series of commercial burglaries that occurred early on 11/05/2012.
A male suspect entered the following businesses:
Hancock’s Neighborhood Market – 44 Commerce Street
Fortner Gas Company – 12 Fortner Drive
Goodwin Insurance – 202 Merchant Street
Parker’s Quik Lube – 134 Merchant Street
El Bracero Restaurant – 80 Merchant Street
The suspect attempted to gain entry to Coldwell Banker Service 1st Realty – 110 Merchant Street, but was unsuccessful.
Cadiz Police were notified around 0240 hours by a deliveryman that the front glass door at Hancock’s Market had been busted out. Officers gained entry to the store and determined items were missing and that a burglary had occurred. When officers finished processing and investigating the scene, they observed a door wedged open at Fortner Gas Company and determined a burglary occurred there.
A continued investigation determined that alarms at Fortner Gas, Goodwin Insurance and El Bracero were disabled.
The investigation determined that forcible entry was gained to each of the businesses. Entry was attempted at Coldwell Banker but not made.
An undetermined amount of cash was taken from each business in addition to the damage caused by entry.
The white male suspect is described as being between 45 and 55 years old, between 5-8 and 5-10 tall, and weighs between 140 and 160 pounds. A silver vehicle is also observed on surveillance video prior to the first burglary. It’s not known if it was driven by the suspect.
